Day 10

Uxmal

January 10th

Today was my last day in this beautiful Yucatecan land. I visited Santa Elena and then explored Uxmal, one of the most important Mayan archaeological sites.

I was overwhelmed with emotion as I gazed at those massive structures, connected by the white roads known as sacbés, and the masks of Chaac, the rain god, with his large noses representing the lightning of storms.

At the same time, I felt a deep nostalgia about leaving Yucatán. I wonder how much more cultural richness, landscapes, legends, and knowledge I have yet to discover. Without a doubt, this land has taught me how important it is to connect with nature, honor our past, understand our origins, and turn lived experiences into a new story.
